MOVIES AT THE MONROE

Kick off your shoes and start your weekend early with movies at the Monroe Theatre today, 8 June at 17:00. Don't miss the delightful comedy with Jack Lemmon and Shirley MacLaine, Irma la Douce. In Paris, a former policeman falls in love with a prostitute, and tries to get her out of that life by paying for all of her time.

Next week, on Thursday, 14 June at 18:30 the Monroe Theatre screens Big Country, with Gregory Peck. A man finds himself embroiled in a feud between two families over a valuable patch of land.

The Friday movie on 15 June at 17:00, sees funnyman Walter Matthau take the lead in The Cactus Flower, also starring Goldie Hawn and Ingrid Bergman. Enquiries can be made to Joan (082 415 9588).

Petronel Baard en Coffee Snobs span hul kreatiewe kragte saam in 'n driekuns van optredes in die Suid-Kaap op 8, 9 en 10 Junie.

Op Vrydag, 8 Junie is die kunstenaar­s by Black Vanilla in Groot-Brakrivier te siene, dan in Mosselbaai by die Monroe Teater op Saterdag, 9 Junie en hulle sluit die mini-toer af by die Boerqi Bistro op Sondag, 10 Junie met 'n middagetek­onsert.

Hierdie is 'n Teaterkafe­e in die Suid-Kaapinisia­tief (TISK) wat ook vir die eerste keer weer vlam vat sedert 2008 onder leiding van Petronel Baard.

Gehore kan uitsien na 'n intieme atmosfeer, oorspronkl­ike musiek en lekker kos. Bespreking­s kan by die venues gedoen word.
