Toi­lets pro­vi­ded at Joe Slo­vo

Exe­cu­ti­ve ma­yor Al­der­man Har­ry Le­ven­dal of­fi­ci­al­ly han­ded o­ver the keys to 20 new toi­lets to the com­mu­ni­ty of Joe Slo­vo. “We are glad­ly doing this han­do­ver to­day," the ma­yor said on F­ri­day, 28 Sep­tem­ber. "So­me may re­gard this as in­sig­ni­fi­cant, but ha­ving pro­per a­blu­ti­ons will as­sist in re­sto­ring the dig­ni­ty of the re­si­dents he­re,” said Al­der­man Le­ven­dal.

The ma­yor ap­pe­a­led to the re­si­dents to ta­ke re­spon­si­bi­li­ty for the toi­lets and in­fra­struc­tu­re that we­re in­stal­led at a to­tal cost of R420 000. Mem­bers of the com­mu­ni­ty, ho­we­ver, ex­pres­sed their con­cern for the sa­fe­ty of wo­men and child­ren es­pe­ci­al­ly who, o­wing to the ab­sen­ce of street lig­hts, ha­ve to walk to the toi­lets in the dark.
