SWD in friendly fixture
The SWD provincial cricket team are playing Eastern Province in a friendly three-day fixture as part of their preparation for the 2018/19 season. The match is being played at the Recreation Ground in Oudtshoorn. It started on Wednesday, 3 October and ends today, Friday 5 October.
With Namibia withdrawing from the competition, SWD’s opening match will be against Boland in Paarl from 25 October.
This will give coach, Baakier Abrahams, plenty of time to prepare for a challenging season. He will, however, use this match to test his combinations and the form of some fringe players. Former SWD bowling hero, Glenton Stuurman, is playing in the unfamiliar colours of Eastern Province after he moved to Port Elizabeth at the end of last season.
The teams are:
SWD: Mthobeli Bangindawo, Kirwin Christoffels, Jean du Plessis, Neil Hornbuckle, Brendon Louw, Tsepo Ndwandwa, Yamkela Oliphant, Marcello Piedt, Obus Pienaar, Letlotle Sesele, Stefan Tait Herschell Amerika, Bradley de Villiers Bailey Aarons, Marco de Kock, Jaco Janse van Rensburg and Todd Walker.
Eastern Province: Matthew Christensen, Josh van Heerden, Onke Nyaku, Kelly Smuts, Thomas Kaber, Tian Koekemoer, Solomzi Nqweni, Keenan Vieira, Kenan Smith, Jade de Klerk, Glenton Stuurman and Luvuyo Adam.
