Teddy bear target of 500 reached
The care bear project, in which helpers in the community knit bears and donate them to the victim empowerment project at police stations, was set a new target of 500 bears for the end of the year.
Chair of the Mossel Bay Community Policing Forum, Leon van Dyk, says this target has already been reached.
The initiative is made possible by volunteers and helpers in the community, who knit the bears.
Bears have been donated to the Victim Empowerment Project to be given to children who have suffered trauma.
The victim empowerment room at the Mossel Bay Magistrate's Court will be undergoing a revamp.
The community has been asked to get involved as the room is currently not decorated.
Anyone who would like to get involved can contact Van Dyk (082 651 6228).
