SWD to start campaign

-

The SWD provincial team started their campaign for the 2018/19 season when they took on Boland yesterday Thursday, 25 October at Eurlox Park in Paarl for a threeday match.

The limited over match continues until Sunday, 28 October. Coach, Baakier Abrahams, is starting his second season with the Oudtshoorn-based team and is aspiring to an improved season, especially in the three-day format. SWD had a successful campaign in the limited over format last season but they struggled to record an outright victory in the three-day competition.

Top run scorer Obus Pienaar is the glue in the batting line-up, while Marcello Piedt is leading the bowling attack.

Niel Hornbuckle, Letlotle Sesele and Brendon Louw add a lot of experience in the batting department. Spin bowler, Tsepo Ndwandwa, gives key support to the seam bowlers.

New signings, Kirwin Christoffels and Stefan Tait, both from Eastern Province and Yamkela Oliphant from Border, are making their SWD debuts as well as Marco de Kock who emerged via the SWD Academy system.

Jean du Plessis was unavailable to exam commitments.

Letlotle Sesele is captaining the team for the three-day competition and Obus Pienaar is leading the limited over team.
