Movies at Monroe Theatre
On Friday, 23 November at 17:00, Quo Vadis will be screened at the Monroe Theatre. Robert Taylor and Deborah Kerr star in this love story that brought a fierce Roman commander to question the tyranny of Emperor Nero. On Thursday, 29 November the Monroe Theatre screens the touching flick The Birdman of Alcatraz at 18:30.
It tells the story of Alcatraz's most notorious prisoner, convicted killer Robert Stroud who became an expert in ornithology whilst incarcerated. Burt Lancaster earned an Oscar with his performance in the title role. A lazy Friday awaits with the screening of Love Me Tender starring Elvis Presley on 30 November at 17:00. Support Child Welfare
Mossel Bay Child Welfare is hosting a Golden Oldies evening with Deejay KC "G" on Friday, 23 November from 19:00 until late. The event will take place in the D'Almeida Civic Hall. The cost is R60 per person. Guests can bring their own drinks. For more information contact the Child Welfare office (044 690 3463).
Some of Mossel Bay's best voices will be on stage at the Gospel Extravaganza on 2 December at the D'Almeida Civic Hall from 19:00.
The well-known author and poet Chillea Bruintjies will be the master of ceremonies and performers will include Witness, Crowned, Shaun Sinkfontein, Marcha Lombard, Renique Lottering, Manday Jansen, Keenan Daniels and many more. The entry fees are R50 for adults and R30 for children.
Christmas and all that jazz
Two of the most sought-after local jazz bands are putting on a show on 23 December in the Mossel Bay Town Hall.
