Movies at Monroe Theatre
Maggy Smith stars with Kevin Kline in My Old Lady, to be screened on 7 December. Henry Fonda stars in a John Steinbeck classic, The Grapes of Wrath, at the Monroe Theatre on 8 December.
On 10 December, the classic Western starring Robert Redford and Paul Newman, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, will be screened. The screening is to commemorate the author of the book, William Goldman, who died on 16 November.
Henry Fonda and Katherine Hepburn star in On Golden Pond, to be screened on
11 December.
This is followed by the Stanley Donen classic, Charade, with Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn.
Rock Hudson, Elizabeth Taylor and James Dean star in Giant on 13 December and the week of sterling entertainment concludes with The Turning Point, starring Mikhail Baryshnikov, Shirley MacLaine and Anne Bancroft. Enquiries can be made to Joan (082 415 9588).
Cabaret at the Monroe Theatre
The Monroe Theatre for the 6th year running, hosts their Voorjaarsfees in December.
First up is a delightful comedy cabaret, Passion Paella with raconteur Cornelle Carstens, featuring captivating stories and Flamenco dancing on Friday,
14 December at 19:00. DisNell@s, a deligthful cabaret with diva Petronel Baard and Cornelle Carstens, is on stage at the Monroe Theatre on 21 and 28 December, featuring song, dance and lots of drama. Shows start at 19:00. For more information, contact Joan (082 415 9588).
Christmas and all that jazz
Two of the most sought-after local jazz bands are putting on a show on 23 December in the Mossel Bay Town Hall. The theme is I'm dreaming of a white Christmas.
