International Men’s Day commemorated
Mossel Bay Municipality’s Social Economic Department (SED), in collaboration with the Mossel Bay Local Aids Council and the Department of Health, celebrated International Men’s Day on 19 November at the municipal offices in Hartenbos. The day was used also to commemorate 16 Days of Activism against Women and Child Abuse, as well as the celebration of World Aids Day which is on 1 December. The group of men, all municipal employees, were treated to a fun day, with educational and motivational talks on the role of men in the home, family and society.
The speakers included: David Marcus of the Department of Health, Pastor Niel Williamson and Nomboniso Jika, the manager of the Mossel Bay Thusong Centre.
The Department of Health also provided an educational and informative talk on men’s health and set up a testing station for those interested.
