Christmas comes to Transport Museum

-

The popular choir and orchestra combination of Carpe Musicam! will perform in the Outeniqua Transport Museum on Saturday, 15 December, starting at 19:30.

The concert, entitled Christmas By Candlelight, is a miscellany of Christmas favourites, both old and new.

The headline attraction for the event will be local hero and super-tenor, Voldi George, who will sing Agnus Dei by George Bizet and O, Holy Night by Adolphe Adam, and lead the audience in singing.

There will be plenty of scope for audience members to help rattle the rafters together with the 40-voice choir and 25-piece orchestra.

A wonderful new work for choir and orchestra – Adventum – which is based on O come, o come, Immanuel and the traditional Ukranian Carol of the Bells will have their first public airing in George. Candles will be supplied to provide a Christmassy atmosphere amid the excellent acoustics of the Transport Museum.

Come early from 18:30 onwards and browse craftwork by Carpe Musicam! members, or tuck into tasty munchies supplied by the Eden Lions. Boerie rolls will be on sale and the Lions’ kiosk and cash bar will be open throughout the proceedings.

Tickets will be on sale at the door and are priced at R100 per adult, while learners enter free.

A limited number of plastic chairs will be provided; it is advisable to bring your own comfy, folding chair if possible. For more details, call Elsabe (073 857 2952).
