D’Almeida community concerned after learner ‘assaults’ principal
Members of the school community in D'Almeida have voiced their concern regarding an incident involving a high school learner at a local school.
On Friday, 11 January, it was rumoured that an altercation took place between the acting head of the school and a Grade 10 learner.
The Western Cape Education Department confirmed that the incident had been reported.
"An alleged assault incident was reported by the school. A Grade 10 learner allegedly assaulted the acting principal.
The incident was reported to the WCED district and Safe Schools directorates and the police. The matter was also reported to the school governing body so that the relevant disciplinary procedures could be followed," said the WCED spokesperson, Bronagh Hammond.
A charge of assault is being investigated by the Da Gamaskop police.
