Sleepathon, pet micro-chipping
If you would enjoy a whacky time for a worthy cause, join the SPCA sleepathon on Friday, 29 November.
The sleepathon will take place at the SPCA premises on Bill Jeffery Avenue, KwaNonqaba, in Mossel Bay.
Paul Möller, "a fanatical animal lover and rescuer", according to the SPCA, has volunteered to spend the night of 29 November in one of the SPCA kennels with a furry friend for the sleepathon.
Members of the public are invited to sleep over too. You can sleep over in a kennel or bring a tent and sleep over. Families are welcome.
There will be jumping castles for children. The charge for sleeping over is R100. Companies are invited to sponsor people who are sleeping over in kennels.
You are welcome to bring your meat and braai it at the SPCA, otherwise boerewors rolls will be on sale. The Friday night events begin at 18:00. Activities on Saturday, 30 November, start at 09:00. The cost to enter the grounds on Saturday is also R100, the same as for Friday.
On the Saturday, Identi-pet from Johannesburg will be in attendance. Its staff will be doing micro-chipping of pets. This service is available for only R150 per pet.
A microchip is a permanent pet ID. Having your pet microchipped increases its chances of being found if it is lost or stolen.
The chip is implanted in the loose skin between the shoulder blades. The whole procedure only takes a few minutes.
There will be exhibition stands available, where companies can promote their products. You will be able to mingle with prospective clients and also have a fun day with the family.
A limited number of stands is available. Call Michelle (071 252 6416) at the SPCA for more information or to book your stand.
