Linél performs exceptionally
Linél Engelbrecht from Curro Mossel Bay has performed astoundingly and is the school's top performing junior cyclist.
Linél has not disappointed with exceptional performances the last few weeks. She has stepped up onto the podium several times with top honours and concluded several cycling series in the region and country. This includes the Madibaz XCO Series, where Linél won the Youth Girls title outright earning Eden Cycling XCO colours for 2019. She also participated in the Spur MTB League and was crowned the Southern Cape Champion. She then participated at the Spur Inter-High School Finals held at Wagpos High School in Brits.
Lastely, Linél took part in the Eden Cycling “Le Peloton” Criterium Series. The series, hosted locally at Mossdustria and organised by Johnnie Koen Cycles saw Linél dominate the u/17 girls races. She also participated in the Tour de Plett, 45km's and won the ladies race. As part of her varied training programme, it was decided to take part in the Western Cape Track Cycling Championships held at the Bellville Velodrome last weekend.
Recently, Linél’s achievements were recognised and her performance and dedication was rewarded by Curro Mossel
Bay where she received several accolades and trophies for her sport participation during 2019.
The awards were handed over recently during the school’s awards ceremony. Trophies awarded were the Roux Floating Trophy for Best Cycling Performance, Kamfer Floating Trophy for Best Performance in Sport for Girls, DC Floating Trophy for Best Performance in a non-school Sport for Girls and the top award, the Marthinus Kruger Trophy, Sportswoman of the Year.
Linél was also awarded full colours for duathlon, triathlon, underwater hockey, road cycling, MTB Cycling and encompassing all, full colours for sport.
