‘Nothing is impossible with God’

- Linda Sparg

A Mossel Bay mom, whose baby boy was born premature, at only 27 weeks, in the casualty waiting room at Mossel Bay Provincial Hospital, is tremendously proud that he is well and healthy and turned one year old on 2 August.

This is good reason for this young, working mom to celebrate Women's Month to the full.

Little Intandoyenkosi Hadebe, whose first name means "God's will", had a difficult start to his life.

Noxolo Hadebe caused a stir when she gave birth in the emergency waiting room at 11:00 on 2 August last year. Intandoyenkosi weighed 880 grams.

Noxolo recalls: "I was about to go to work, when I got abnormal pain and cramps. They kept coming and going. I went to the local clinic at JCC, where I live, and they called the ambulance which took me to hospital."

When Noxolo was told she could give birth at any time, she was "in shock". After his birth, Intandoyenkosi and Noxolo remained in hospital for two months and three weeks. Noxolo said: "During that time he used to stop breathing a lot, but I kept the faith and he is alive today. With God nothing is impossible. We went for Intandoyenkosi's check-up on 3 August. He is growing and gaining weight normally. There is nothing wrong with him."

Intandoyenkosi is her first baby.

Noxolo is a student intern in the HR Department at the municipality.
