New education district director

The Eden and Central Karoo Education District appointed Jewel Jonkers as the new district director, effective from 1 November.

Jonkers says he is proud and honoured to take up the position.

“I am delighted to function in this pivotal position as it allows me to partner with the Western Cape Education Department (WCED) in achieving the vision of providing quality education, for every learner, in every classroom, in every school in the province.”

He believes with this shared vision and the desire to transform and improve education, the department will give youth the momentum required to become the next generation leaders.

“I thank my colleagues and the organisation for their constant support and teamwork during the past months.

“I look forward to a continued prosperous partnership.

“I also take this opportunity to introduce my personal assistant, Hercheline Baatjies. We wish her all the best in her future endeavours, and we are confident that she will contribute to efficient management in the office of the district director.”
