New bowls committee chosen

- Theo Oosthuizen

Mossel Bay Bowling Club recently held its annual general meeting.

A new commitee was also chosen and it is only the second time in the 86-year history of the club that a woman has been chosen as president of the club. Congratulations to Elna de Wet, who will be “in charge” at the club for the next season.

The club invites everybody who may be interested, to come and play bowls. It has three qualified coaches who will be willing to coach you for free.

Membership has remained the same for the new year. You can play at the club on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays when there are tabs in.

The club also wants to reach out to the high schools in Mossel Bay. Club members would like to introduce the lovely game of bowls to interested pupils and teachers. Junior players are more than welcome.

Schools interested can contact Owen Calverley (072 768 5662), the head coach at the club.
