Apply by 21 October to be police reservist
The police in Mossel Bay are looking for reservists.
They need members of the community who are energetic, intelligent, physically fit and dedicated to serve the community on a voluntary basis.
You will not be paid as a reservist. You will be expected to perform a minimum of 16 hours' voluntary duty per month. The closing date to apply is 21 October.
Basic appointment requirements:
1. SA citizenship by birth.
2. Age: 20 to 50 years.
3. Pass a medical test which includes physical and mental fitness, including psychometric assessments.
4. Be of good and sound character. Background enquiries will be done.
5. Have a Grade 12 certificate.
6. Be able to speak and write at least two official languages, of which one must be English.
7. Allow fingerprints and DNA sample to be taken.
8. Complete an assessment questionnaire.
9. The applicant will be vetted (researched) and screened.
10. Undergo training for six months during weekends and after normal working hours.
11. Must not have a criminal record or any cases criminal or departmental pending against him/her. (Fingerprints will be taken.)
12. No tattoos that will be visible while wearing a police uniform.
13. Drug use and excessive drinking of alcohol is not allowed.
14. The following are needed: certified copies of ID, driver's licence and marriage certificate; proof of residence; and employment. (Applicants who are currently employed will receive preference.)
An interview will be conducted by a police panel if shortlisted and after passing of psychometric tests.
