Disappoint­ing end to season

The Six Gun Grill Garden Route Badgers had a disappoint­ing end to their season after a satisfacto­ry maiden season in the CSA Women's profession­al competitio­n.

The Badgers lost both the limited over and T20 matches against the bottom-ofthe-log Recon Tactical Free State team at the Recreation Ground in Oudtshoorn.

In the limited over match the Badgers batters failed to convert a defendable total as they were dismissed for a modest 133. Free State (134/6) surpassed the target (134/6) in the 37th over for a sixwicket bonus point victory.

In the T20 match on Sunday, Yolandi Potgieter (71 from 51 balls; 12x4) played a match-winning innings and took the Free State to a competitiv­e 143/6 in their allotted 20 overs. Despite a third-wicket partnershi­p of 73 from 80 balls between Thabita la Grange (49) and Micaela Andrews (37), the Badgers fell short of their run chase and ended on 116/4 – a defeat of 27 runs.
