CELEB WATCH again Brian Themba becomes a father
He is excited about being a hands-on dad and going back to producing great music
ARTIST and former Muvhango actor Brian Themba recently welcomed another baby girl with his partner of four years. The star who has a 13-year-old daughter from a previous relationship couldn't be more excited.
His first child stays in London with her mother and the father of two tells Move! that his newborn baby gives him an opportunity to physically be a present father. The I’ll Wait singer shares that he’s also focusing on music after leaving Muvhango.
A DOTING FATHER
Brian was part of the Lion King play that toured the globe and he stayed in London for seven years. The artist tells Move! that while staying there, he met a woman, fell in love and had a beautiful baby girl with her.
His teenage daughter now stays with her mother, stepfather and siblings in the United Kingdom. However, Brian still talks to his baby girl every single day and they see each other at least three times a year.
The musician and actor says he doesn’t take the responsibility that comes with being a parent for granted.
“I have two beautiful daughters and all I want is to protect them. I feel like girls need their fathers even more because through us, they get to understand their worth a lot better,” says Brian.
This year marks four years since he has been with the mother of his little girl. Without letting too much out, Brian says he loves his partner and marriage is on the cards.
Brian has been singing for over 20 years and he put his music career on hold when he joined Muvhango as Ranthumeng Mokoena. The star tells Move! that he sacrificed his music career to fully commit to Muvhango but now that he has been let go, he is back to focusing on music.
MUSIC IS HIS FIRST LOVE
He recently released his album, unABC (unapologetic, unbreakable, uncensored). He initially released the album in 2017 and says, “At the time, I was less focused on music. I released a few copies on digital platforms and didn’t get time to promote it. UnABC is a beautiful album and it deserves to be heard. That’s why I’m releasing it again and this time on every platform.”
Brian released the album under his record label, AJ8One Productions. He describes the album as personal, saying he poured his heart out when he was penning down the lyrics.
The Eastern Cape-born star is doing things right this time around. “I’ve learnt from my mistakes. I know better than to sacrifice my music for anything. I’m not going back to Muvhango but when another acting gig comes, I’ll work on investing in both crafts,” he says.
