Lo­cals sup­port b­lood dri­ve

The South A­fri­can Na­ti­o­nal B­lood Ser­vi­ce (SANBS) is hap­py with the tur­nout at their b­lood dri­ve in Graaff-Rei­net on 14 Sep­tem­ber, ha­ving col­lected 64 u­nits of b­lood.

Pri­or to the b­lood dri­ve, held at Te Wa­ter­saal on Bour­ke Street, SANBS ur­ged do­nors to at­tend.

"Co­vid-19 re­stricti­ons ha­ve se­ver­e­ly li­mi­ted our a­bi­li­ty to col­lect a­de­qua­te b­lood s­tocks, par­ti­cu­lar­ly be­cau­se we are not a­ble to access schools, col­le­ges and cor­po­ra­te for b­lood dri­ves," said Zik­ho­na Rui­ters, Do­nor Re­la­ti­ons Practi­ti­o­ner for SANBS.

Lo­cals at­ten­ded the dri­ve be­t­ween 11:00 and 16:00.

Amidst a b­lood shor­ta­ge, SANBS say they’re hap­py with the tur­nout in Graaff-Rei­net.
