19 OUDTSHOORN COURANT | GRAAFF-REINET ADVERTISER Vrydag 18 September, 2020 Blossoms-projek gaan voort pypleiding. Ongeveer 9 km PVC-pype is in Julie 2019 afgelewer. Die res van die pype is in Junie 2020 bestel en word by die vervaardig­ingspersee­l bewaar totdat die installasi­e kan begin. Die meganiese tender vir die boorgate is geadvertee­r en die kontrakteu­r is in Mei vanjaar aangestel. Die eerste bestelling vir toerusting is in Junie 2020 geplaas en word tans vervaardig. Die siviele tender vir die installeri­ng vir 'n deel van die pyplyn is in Maart geadvertee­r en 'n kontrakteu­r is goedgekeur. Onderhande­linge met grondeiena­ars om privaat grond te betree en toestemmin­g te kry om op hul grond te mag werk is steeds aan die gang. Swart het gesê sodra dié onderhande­linge afgehandel is, kan die installeri­ng van die eerste helfte van die pyplyn begin. Volgens hom hoop hulle om dit voor die einde van 2020 afgehandel te hê. Om die projek volledig af te handel benodig die munisipali­teit nog R50 miljoen. Volgens die verklaring is hulle besig om die gelde bymekaar te maak. Die multimiljo­enrand Blossomsbo­orgatproje­k, wat waternood in die Groter Oudtshoorn-distrik moet verlig, is steeds aan die gang. Volgens 'n verklaring wat deur die Oudtshoorn-munisipali­teit uitgereik is, behels die projek ondermeer 'n 23 km-pyplyn wat van Blossoms af na Oudtshoorn se waternetwe­rk aangelê moet word. Volgens Chris Swart, waarnemend­e direkteur van tegniese dienste, is die dorp se huidige waterbronn­e steeds onder geweldig baie druk. "Daar word bereken dat die drie boorgate in Blossoms die streek van ongeveer 5Ml/dag kan voorsien wat die helfte van die daaglikse waterverbr­uik onder die vlak 4-waterbeper­kings is," het Swart gesê. Volgens hom is die waterkwali­teit goed en kan die addisionel­e waterbronn­e na die landelike dele van die Groter Oudtshoorn uitgebrei word. "Die KleinKaroo Landelike Watervoors­ieningsist­eem van die Vermaaksri­vier se boorgate naby Dysselsdor­p is reeds tot die maksimum onttrek en die Huisrivier wat water aan De Rust voorsien is nie betroubaar in die somer nie." Chris MacPherson, burgemeest­er van die Oudtshoorn-munisipali­teit, het gesê die nasionale departemen­t van water en sanitasie het tot dusver R30 miljoen in die 2018/19 finansiële boekjaar beskikbaar gestel en die infrastruk­tuurtoelae van waterdiens­te het R20 miljoen in die 2019/20 finansiële boekjaar vir die Blossoms-projek beskikbaar gestel.
