Jim’s Isolated Life
LIFE has changed for Jim Carrey, but he’s still looking for love.
“ISPEND a lot of time by myself,” says Hollywood actor Jim Carrey, whose life got flipped upside down three years ago when his girlfriend overdosed on prescription medcation.
It’s been a rough few years for the comedian, who according to sources seems to be in a rut these days. With friends, family and even fans worried about the star and his emotional wellbeing, the actor admitted that he is living most of his days alone.
“You could describe my home life as an isolated life,” the actor revealed during a recent interview with Radio Times. “I spend a lot of time by myself, but I like being by myself, so it’s okay. That might be strange to some people, but I enjoy it.”
Carrey, who was involved in a wrongful death lawsuit launched by the family of ex Cathriona White, following her
suicide in 2015, says, “I love to read and I enjoy painting and working on sculptures
[in my free time]. And I date.”
White’s family accused Carrey of having caused her death and of giving her an
STD – which she herself had sued him for before her sudden passing. A California judge dismissed the suit earlier this year, but Carrey, who’s struggled with clinical depression in the past, still isn’t his normal self. During an interview last year he said, “At this point, I don’t have depression. There is not an experience of depression. I had that for years, but now, when the rain comes, it rains, but it doesn’t stay. It doesn’t stay long enough to immerse me and drown me anymore.” But no one is convinced! “Jim Carrey is definitely super depressed and I am worried about it,” one fan wrote on Twitter. “It’s sad that people laugh at Jim Carrey way too much that no one realises he’s depressed too. I hope someone takes comedians seriously too,” wrote another. But despite spending most of his time alone, the actor has revealed that he is trying to
date. Twice married Carrey, who has dated celebrities like Renée Zellweger and Jenny
McCarthy, says he is quietly dating again. The comedian has kept his private life out of the headlines since the tragedy, choosing to concentrate on his love for art, but after being unlucky in love for many years the 56-year-old revealed he’s still looking.
And he’s keeping busy too. Carrey’s new quirky drama series, Kidding, in which he plays the depressed host of a kids TV show, is a hit and last month he also accepted the Charlie Chaplin Britannia Award for Excellence in Comedy.
