Strange but true
THE Catholic Church is an institution that has had to modulate its operations to keep up with an ever-changing world. They have relaxed certain policies and philosophies throughout the ages, but a time came when they had no choice but to retain and gain followers through technology. Yep, the Vatican commissioned an augmented reality (AR) game much like Pokémon GO. What they want you to do is to go on a spiritual journey by way of their own mobile
AR game, Follow JC Go – the name might not be all that catchy, but it may just yet prove a more entertaining way to attend catechism. It was commissioned by the Vatican for R 7-million and it was endorsed by Pope Francis himself. In the game players are tasked with collecting various religious objects and to assemble a team of saints that ultimately follows Jesus. Players also need to attain a high ‘prayer count’ and they need to keep their avatars healthy and hydrated. The app also encourages you to visit every church you come across.
