YOU might not be crazy about the Christmas carols in every shopping centre, or even the fact that the Christmas decorations were up from October, but as the festive season kicks in so do your feet: you take a seat on that comfy couch, kick your feet up, and keep that remote control close by! With our favourite Christmas movies on repeat, there’s no better way to get into the Christmas mood with the whole family. Here we share some of our all-time favourites so make a note!

A Christmas Carol

JIM CARREY’S voice keeps us glued to the screen as always in this animated retelling of Charles Dickens' classic novel about a Victorian-era miser taken on a journey of self-redemption. REESE WITHERSPOON and Vince Vaughn in one film about a couple who struggle to visit all four of their divorced parents on Christmas — just hilarious!

ALL ‘80s babies grew up watching this one. The 1984 film about a troubled boy who dives into a wondrous fantasy world through the pages of a mysterious book remains a hit over three decades later. WILL FERRELL and Zooey Deschanel will keep you entertained in this movie about a man raised as an elf at the North Pole who is sent to the US in search of his true identity. CATCH Jim Carrey in another Xmas hit — on the outskirts of Whoville, there lives a green, revenge-seeking Grinch who plans on ruining the Christmas holiday for all the town’s people.

BILL NIGHY and James McAvoy star in this film about Santa's clumsy son Arthur, who sets out on a mission with St Nick’s father to give out a present they misplaced to a young girl in less than two hours.

The Muppet Christmas Carol

WE all love us some Muppets — here the Muppet characters tell their version of the classic tale of an old and bitter miser’s redemption on Christmas Eve.

The Nightmare Before Christmas

ENJOY this musical animation fantasy about

Jack Skellington, king of Halloween Town, who discovering Christmas, attempts to pull off his own version of the holiday... with disastrous results!

Home Alone 1 & 2

IT doesn’t matter which one you watch — in fact, watch both. But there’s no doubt you’ll enjoy Macaulay Culkin’s role as an eight-year-old troublemaker who must protect himself from a pair of burglars when he is accidentally left alone by his family during Christmas vacation.

The Holiday

JUDE LAW, Kate Winslet and Cameron Diaz star in this romantic comedy about two women troubled with guy-problems who swap homes in each other's countries during Christmas; each meet a local guy and fall in love.

ANOTHER Christmas Carol inspired movie. Let’s go back to 1988 when Bill

Murray played a selfish, cynical television executive who is haunt-ed by three spirits bearing lessons on Christmas Eve. A favourite on most people’s list, for sure.

The Family Stone

SARAH JESSICA PARKER stars as an uptight, conservative businesswoman who accompanies her boyfriend to his eccentric and outgoing family's annual Christmas celebration and finds that she’s a fish out of water in their free-spirited way of life.

Miracle On 34th Street

Dylan McDermott and Mara Wilson star in this Christmas film about a lawyer and a little girl who must prove that a man claiming to be Santa Claus is the real thing.
