What the face!
THESE celebs are loving the tattoo trend – but have they taken it too far?
WITH every day that passes tattoos are seen as less taboo and more expressive and artistic. It’s not uncommon for people to ink massive areas of their body with something meaningful, something artistic or simply with something they think looks cool. But while seeing sleeves and leg tattoos are a norm in today’s society, face tattoos are still fairly rare to see except when it comes these celebs, who have embraced the craze.
AS one of the first celebrities to get a really noticeable face tattoo a few years ago, Mike Tyson’s tribal inking has made quite the statement. Mike has previously revealed that his tattoo is meant as a ‘warrior status’. The star admits that while many people criticised him for his choice to tattoo his face, it’s something he doesn’t regret. “I love this tattoo,” he said in an interview back in 2015. “Over a million people got it now, so I did a good thing. This is good. This is good.” The boxer added, “You have to remember, sometimes, you can’t feel a tattoo. So sometimes, you see one of these guys with their whole thing [gestures towards face] and you look at him like, ‘Whoa, he’s kind of creepy.’ And then, he’s talking to me like he’s comfortable, and I’m like, ‘Oh, I got one, too.’ That’s what happens sometimes. I’m being judgemental with a tattoo.”
THE latest celebrity to get inked on his face is pop star Justin Bieber – and it’s a romantic gesture to his wife(-tobe?) Hailey Baldwin. Justin’s tattoo artist, Bang Bang, reveals that he got an incredibly small tattoo just above his right eyebrow – but it’s really difficult to read. “They each got a tattoo,” Bang Bang said. “Justin’s tattoo is on his face, and I haven’t seen any photos of it – so he’s doing a good job of [lying] low ... It’s really thin and delicate. And [it’s] also not a traditional couples’ tattoo ... I don’t want to give away what it is until press gets a hold of it.”
