Reality bites

THE Bachelor continues to be one of the highest-rated reality shows on the planet, and in 2018 four branches of the reality show aired: namely The Bachelor, The Bachelor: Winter Games, The Bachelorette, and Bachelor In Paradise. And this has been one of the most years in history for the franchise. The drama started early in 2018 when Arie Luyendyk Jr proposed to Becca Kufrin – only to dump her shortly after filming wrapped and reveal at the reunion episode that he had proposed to runner-up Lauren Burnham during the live After The Rose finale. Then, while the world was rooting for Clare Crawley and Benoit Beauséjour-Savard, who got engaged during The Bachelor: Winter Games, the couple revealed that they had split just two months after filming. Good news, however, came for Bachelor In Paradise stars Ashley Iaconetti and Jared Haibon. Having pined after him for two seasons, the franchise’s favourite couple finally started dating and eventually got engaged. Finally, Amanda Stanton (of Ben Higgins’ season of The Bachelor) was arrested in Las Vegas after the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department responded to a battery domestic violence call. A physical altercation allegedly took place in a hotel room where it is alleged that Amanda battered her boyfriend, Bobby Jacobs. Now a new season of The Bachelor starts in just a few short weeks, with Colton Underwood at the helm, and we can expect a whole lot more drama in 2019!
