Meropa Casino and Entertainment World together with Domba Trust bestowed the province’s top 12 matriculants of 2019 with R10 000 in cash each as well as certificate of excellence during the trust’s Best Achievers Awards ceremony held at Meropa Casino’s conference centre last Thursday.

The Domba Trust is an investor in Meropa Casino and Entertainment World and with the funds that trustees manage, the trust focuses on developing education and health, as well as arts and culture in the province.

Ganyane Mutshidzi whom articulated from Patrick Ramano School said the money would be very handy. “I will be studying Computer Engineering at University of Pretoria so the money will help me to settle and I will use it to pay for some necessities,” Ganyane said. Martin Mashaba, Deputy Director General Corporate Services at the Department of Education said they were fully behind the learners and they value partnerships such as offered by the Domba Trust. “We are grateful to them for making us shine as the department. Excellence will open doors for you and we are saying to you continue with the good work,”Mashaba told the learners.

Mashudu Ramano, Chairperson of the Domba Trust said the gesture would encourage other matriculants to work hard. “Most of the learners are from poor families and we are hopeful that the R10 000 will assist them. They worked throughout the year and they are reaping what they sowed,” Ramano said.
