Iron-fisted resilience is need- ed from CR

- ELVIS MASOGA elvismasoga123@gmail.com

Humility and intellectual calculus are the quintessential determinants of great leadership. But infinite humility and misguided calculus are symptomatic of leadership failure and personality deficiency.

A great leader must demonstrate decisiveness when confronted with moments of challenge or adversity. Greatness resides in one’s ability to employ extraordinary calculus and decisiveness when dealing with a crisis.

It is foolish to display softness and cowardice in the midst of insurgency or rebellion. The actions and mindset of a leader must always fit the evolving circumstances and challenges. It is fatally dangerous to be led by a ‘good leader’ who is out of tune with unfolding circumstances. President Cyril Ramaphosa is a classic example of a ’feel-good leader’ who lacks tenacious willpower.

There is no denying that Ramaphosa is very rich in inspirational orations and abstractive analytics. That explains why iconic German philosopher Karl Marx once observed thus: “Practice without theory is blind, and theory without practice is sterile”.

Virtues of humility, wisdom and calculus must always be buttressed by resoluteness and decisiveness.

How could a rational person throw sponges at people who are hurling stones and hand grenades at him? Brilliance, just like stupidity, is only noticeable when applied or demonstrated.

Ramaphosa’s humility, wisdom and softness do not add any value to the security threats facing our country. Iron-fisted resilience and impenetrable fortitude are the epic qualities that our nation expects from the president.

Most evidently, our country is under siege from a sinister band of political terrorists who are hellbent on executing a coup d’etat. A top-secret report from Military Intelligence had unmasked the 14 identities of politicians who were part of the insurgency.

The president is in full possession of that report but he had not taken any decisive action thereof.

These counter-revolutionary insurgents have also masterminded the vicious burning of our National Parliament last month.

Ramaphosa’s excessive humility and tenderly softness are severely crippling our country.
