PAC to raise money for local charity organisations

- Herbert Rachuene

Polokwane Athletic Club (PAC) will host a 5km fun run and 21km race at the Polokwane rugby fields on February 26.

The event will see runners from in and around Polokwane come together at the fields to raise money for various charity organisations in the city. According to PAC chairperson Corrie Calitz, all participants will receive medals while T-shirts will only be given to 400 participants.

“It will be our first event of the year and we look forward to host it. All Covid-19 protocols will be observed and entries are still open for the race. There is also R10 000 prize money up for grabs.”

Calitz announced they postponed the Seeff Race on request from the sponsors, who have been advised not to get involved in any event for the first quarter of the year. The annual popular running event in the city was scheduled for January 29.

He added that they have officially reopened

their offices at the Peter Mokaba Sport Complex to the members of the public on January 12. “We want to allow athletes and novices to register for the new 2022 athletics season. We will prepare for the Comrades Marathon which will take place on August 28.”
