Knock-out pair wins challenge
Avid golfers Mario Janse van Rensburg and Keith Badenhorst were announced as the winners of the captain’s knock-out golf challenge on April 9.
The challenge was played at the Polokwane Golf Club and Janse van Rensburg and Badenhorst had to beat 64 players from Polokwane and surrounds.
Attie Buitendag explained the competition and said the duo survived elimination throughout the day.
“The annual competition sees players play in pairs and they then have to eliminate each other. Janse van Rensburg and Badenhorst were the last remaining players on the day and we congratulate them on their efforts.”
Polokwane Observer and Review branch manager Janse van Rensburg said: “Wellknown golfer Bob Hope said: ‘If you watch a game, it’s fun. If you play it, it’s a recreation. If you work at it, it’s golf’. In golf you have good days and bad days, and Saturday was a great day.”
He added the competition leading up to the final was tough and that some holes really tested not only their patience, but their ability to work as a team. “With a great partner and some amazing drives, chips and putts, we managed to secure the win after 20 holes.”
