Former CDM mayor joins the EFF
“The ANC is dead.”
These were the words of Mmakgabo Lawrence Mapoulo, the former Capricorn District Municipality mayor who recently joined the EFF.
His decision to leave the ruling party, he said, is largely rooted in the ANC’s lack of discipline and culture of corruption.
“The ANC is dead. You can see that in the levels of corruptions and the lack of discipline among comrades. Those who remain in the ANC are seeking to get the crumbs and then run away. The real cadres who have the interests of the people at heart, are all on the verge of leaving,” he said.
He added that he has found a new political home in the EFF and that he is proud to be associated with the organisation.
Besides being persuaded by EFF
President Julius Malema, it was also his own newfound understanding of EFF policies which he identifies with, the drove his decision to join the party, Mapoulo remarked.
“I am a member of the EFF and a proud one at that. Even the day that I pass on, I will be a very proud ghost of the EFF. In the ANC, I was hated more than we had been hated by the Nationalist Party, simply because of my beliefs and discipline,” he said.
He added that he plans to do the groundwork to help the organisation meet the one-million-member recruitment mandate by the end of the year.
Mapoulo added that he would like to see the EFF outvote what he referred to as a “tired” ANC.
EFF’s member of the national assembly, Mbuyiseni Ndlozi, said the organisation is excited to welcome a veteran who belongs to a generation of people that came into politics in the 1970s.
“The Commander in Chief personally recruited him and we mark this as an important moment for us as it comes at a time when we are reviving the EFF in Limpopo.
“It’s important to us because it’s a statement of confidence in reviving the organisation,” he said.
Ndlozi added that he hopes Mapoulo’s move to the EFF will inspire the people of Limpopo to know that the EFF is the last hope for the province.
