Forum says long-term solutions are needed to sustain business
The Premier, Chupu Mathabatha met with the Limpopo United Business Forum at Asha’s Lifestyle House on April 12.
The forum aims to empower and strengthen the legitimacy of individual member organisations by fostering patriotism and corporation in the province.
It also facilitates a platform for collaboration and partnership with Provincial Government.
Forum president Tshepo Mathabatha said there is a lack of sustainability in businesses and that entrepreneurs often ask for shortterm interventions which are unsustainable, to build anything meaningful. “Resources are scarce but we want long-term solutions,” she said.
The premier reaffirmed government’s support for the forum and its programmes.
“In your organisation I see a new, vibrant and viable vehicle that will result in the creation of the much-needed black industrialists. Based on our province’s comparative advantage in mining, agriculture and tourism, I see a Limpopo that we all want,” he said.
Mathabatha added that business organisations such as the LUBF are relevant to the current struggle of socio-economic emancipation.
Mamedupi Teffo, Capricorn District Municipality Mayor said that the conditions under which business operate have an important role to play in shaping the best economic solutions for the future.
She added that the government wants to create an environment that is conducive for economic productivity, free movement of goods and investment.
“We should not stand on the sidelines when the economic effects of Covid-19 have subjected our communities to poverty, inequality and overdependence on social grants. We hope the new executive will work tirelessly to enhance the prospects of economic growth in our province,” she said.
