PIETMAN READY FOR WINTERFEES

- Maretha Swanepoel

Pietman Geldenhuys has been interested in music and the entertainment industry since a young age. At the age of six years he performed his first solo in church.

Prior to following his current career Pietman also explored other careers such as a tractor driver and worked in sales for many years.

In England he performed as a street musician where he was noticed by another local musician.

After performing with the musician several times, he started to flourish in the industry as solo performer.

For almost 18 months he performed in bars and other social clubs before returning to South Africa where he started his studies as radio announcer and actor at City Varsity.

Pietman is also known as Pietman die Skot and Peter Mitchell, and was co-presenter of the KykNet comedy show Oppiestoep.

Pietman said his visit to the Winterfees will be his sixth visit to the city.

“I can remember a show one night in the city with Ollie Viljoen and another event hosted by Mrs Polokwane once.

I look forward to the Winterfees and especially to see and meet the people on this side of the country.” he said.

He said the hospitality and love of the people of the north bring him back every time.

His dream is to tour with Bob Dylan, as Bob is his biggest influencer and would like to hear his stories firsthand.

“I would also like to perform at the Royal Albert Hall.

“I had the privilege of performing at the Hammersmith Apollo in London,” Pietman brags.

Pietman will be on stage on 4 June at

18:00. Tickets are R350 per adult and R250 per teenager. Children under ten years enter for free.
