MLA shooters bag medals in Gauteng

- Herbert Rachune

Shooters from Moulder Luggeweer Akademie performed well at the Gauteng Shooting Open held in Gauteng on April 23.

Some of the top achievers were Aidan

Eloff, who won a gold medal in the u/12 category, Migael Moulder, who won a bronze medal in u/14 3p, and Gert Smit, who walked away with a gold medal in u/16 in both 10m stand and 3p.

Another top achiever from the academy was Aiden Weijters as he won a bronze medal in u/20 10m standing.

Hanré Willemse also excelled and shot a score of 600 out of 600 to win a gold medal in u/20 precise men, 10m standing.

Sané Moulder from the academy congratulated the young shooters and said they are proud of their achievements.

“They have worked hard, practised their shooting and have proven themselves in the Gauteng Shooting Open.”

She added that they will participate in more shooting events later this year.

“In May there will a KwaZulu-Natal Open, in June there will be a Free State open and we will host our own event in August. At the moment we are not sure if there will be shooters from our academy who will participate in the KZN or Free State open due to the distance.

“Both provinces are far from us and most of our shooters are learners and might not be able to travel there. We can, however, guarantee we will have a strong representation at the Limpopo open in August.”
