Nazneen feeds the community

- Miranda Chauke

Many people pray for just one meal a day.

These are the sentiments of Nazneen Khan, local philanthropist and founder of Salaamut Group Projects, who hosted a food drive in Westenburg on April 30. She explained that she was prompted to run the food drive because she is aware that many people suffer from hunger.

With the assistance of a few of her friends who helped her with food donations, she managed to feed approximately 250 people.

She added this would not be the last food drive she would host.

“We are part of the community and with the blessings from God, we will continue to try to help where we can,” she said. She added food is not her only focus as she continues to raise awareness of cleft lips and cleft palates. She also sponsors adult nappies for the elderly on a monthly basis. She explained her need to serve comes from her father who was also big on philanthropy and taught her from a young age she is born to serve humanity.
