ELANDRÉ EXCITED TO SING WITH RESIDENTS AGAIN AT CONTAINERBAR WINTERFEES

- Maretha Swanepoel

Local Elandré fans have the golden opportunity to see him perform live at the Winter Festival on June 4.

The 26-year-old Afrikaans singer made a name for himself after he recorded a cover of Bruce Springsteen’s song, Tougher than the rest, and shared it on social media. The home recording led to a performance at Bokradio and a contract with Select Music. The young artist hit the ground running and produced three albums between 2016 and 2020 with hit songs like Woorde uit jou mond, Tussen die lakens and Vuur op die water.

“I find myself returning to Polokwane time and time again to share my music with the residents. I look forward to check up on and sing with the locals. The festival’s lineup alone promises a good time and I am honoured to share a stage with these wonderful artists at the festival,” Elandré said.

Two specific places came to mind when he was asked where he would still like to perform; The Afrikaans Language Monument in the Paarl, and Grand Ole

Opry in Nashville, Tennessee in the USA. “Shania Twain taught me what a tour should be. She combines a dance club gig and a stadium show in a way that sincerely touches people’s hearts. It would be a dream come true to harmonise with her one day.”

Elandré added that he gets his inspiration from other people and the beauty of daily life. “I like to capture the honest everyday moments people would like to keep as a memory for the future in my songs. It’s about the little things, as well as the lyrics and the music. The future motivates me and my friends and family keep me on track, and hopefully we can make the world a better place in the process.”
