Rotary welcomes new member

- Barry Viljoen

The Rotary Club of Polokwane welcomed a new member when local architect Geshim Francis was inducted during last Monday’s club meeting at Our Home/Ons Tuiste.

Club president Mxolisi Bambo congratulated Francis on his inauguration and reminded him that membership of Rotary is an honour and a privilege with corresponding duties and obligations.

“The community will know and judge Rotary by your actions. Therefore, membership of the organisation is limited to those who possess the qualities that will further the ideals and goals of Rotary and because our principal is ‘Service above self’, the objective of this club is to encourage and foster this ideal as a basis of worthy enterprise,” Bambo explained.

Francis said he joined Rotary to effect change at a greater level.

“As a charter member of the Rotary Club of Effingham Secondary, it is a privilege and honour for me to be a member of this club and I look forward to many fundraising projects,” Francis said.
