Mediclinic Limpopo honours nurses on Nurses Day
Mediclinic Limpopo hosted a Nurses Day breakfast in the hospital’s boardroom for all the nurses and staff to attend on May 12.
Human resource practitioner Prudence Magawu was the programme director for the day and invited unit manager Nadia Kotze to the podium to welcome everyone who participated in the event. Patient experience manager Istha McMillan, deputy nursing manager Alphonsina Sekgoka and deputy unit manager Gugulethu Rangata encouraged, congratulated and empowered the nurses and staff with inspirational words. Sekgoka explained the theme for the day, ‘nursing care is a calling’, was inspired by the fact that a calling is a deep desire to devote yourself to serve people with one’s profession.
“We appreciate your hard work, your sacrifices and your kindness towards the patients. With all the good feedback we received from various patients throughout this year on our rating cards, we would like to celebrate all of you on this special day, continue to work hard,” Sekgoka said.
The unit managers were appreciated and thanked for their effortless work within the hospital and McMillan handed out fresh bouquets of flowers to them. As the nurses were given appraisals, a special announcement was made and Isaac Mashigo was voted as the Mediclinic Limpopo 2022 Nursing Excellence Award winner.
“Patients said Isaac even assisted them to cut their hair and nails, always going above and beyond for patients before leaving the room. That’s why he deserves this award,” Sekgoka said.
Mashigo thanked everyone who nominated him for the award. “I feel excited and I didn’t expect this at all. Thank you to all the nurses and managers who voted for me and believed in me. I will continue to make everyone proud,” he said.
