WINTERFEES WITH BRENDAN

- Maretha Swanepoel

His motivation for songs like Trouvrou and Meisies soos jy, comes from Brendan Peyper’s future wife, even though he does not know who she is yet. Brendan, known for his mix of danceorientated pop and modern country, will visit Polokwane on June 3 at the Winterfees. He says he visits Polokwane often, at least once every month or two.

“I love the people in Limpopo and look forward to perform in a place with a nice bushveld vibe. The spirit of the people who really want to hear me sing, makes me even more excited to perform.”

Brendan became famous in 2015 with his hit album called Stop, wag, bly nog ‘n bietjie featuring hits like Tafelberg vir Twee and Die perfekte een vir my. After that he recorded another three albums and in 2016 and 2019, he was nominated for best pop album at the South African Music Awards. He was also nominated for male singer of the year and newcomer of the year in 2016 at The Ghoema Awards.

“I have a dream to tour with international country artist, Kip Moore, in America and to perform at the Nashville Country Festival. My inspiration for my music comes from everyday experiences, love and disappointments.”

His love for country comes from growing up on a farm and songs like Lekkerder op my Trekker and Vasdanslyf can attest to that. Brendan’s other big love in his life is his Jack Russel called Trompie, his best friend and owner of his own song.
