Limpopo tennis players dominated the provincial leg of the Tennis South Africa ProKennex Mini 4 tournament held at the Polokwane tennis courts on May 28.

Players played some well-executed dropshots, backhands and forehand winners as they competed in various categories.

The tournament gave young and old a chance to compete in singles and doubles. The women’s doubles and singles and boy’s u/16 singles matchups were among the tournament’s highlights, with Limpopo players winning all three matches.

Limpopo’s Takalani Molaoa and Thoriso Ramokgola outplayed the North West duo of Shoeshoe Mahlaku and Danica Freitas in the women’s doubles with 6-2 and 6-0.

Molaoa was also victorious in the women’s singles where she beat Gauteng North’s Isabella Basson 2-6, 7-6(4) and 10-7.

Tournament director Ernest Faver said the turnout for the tournament was good and that the club looks forward to host the remaining tournaments in the second half of the year.

“Our players performed well and we are excited about the development of local tennis. We want to thank the municipality for the use of the facilities. We received a great deal of compliments from the visiting players.”
