Business Chamber relaunched; ready to deliver

The relaunch of the Polokwane Chamber of Business (PCOB) that was hosted at Park Inn by Radisson last Thursday evening was well attended and there was no doubt that an exciting year is on the cards for interim president Percy Mongale, and his interim executive committee.

Addressing the guests, Mongalo said that the chamber will resume its activities in a new format.

“We will extend our membership to associatio­ns, townships and rural areas so that we represent all businesses and business formations in the municipal area as well as the area of Capricorn District Municipali­ty. We will endeavour to represent business where we are needed, be it through trade missions and accompanyi­ng our municipali­ty and our provincial department­s to places where the voice of business is needed. We will renew our relationsh­ips with the institutio­ns of higher learning, the Provincial Skills Developmen­t Forum and the Limpopo Human Resource Developmen­t Council to ensure that there is entreprene­urial skills developmen­t in our province,” Mongalo explained.

Mongalo also said that the PCOB will again host business evenings where businesses showcase their business offerings and revive the golf-day and the gala dinner where awards are made to those who are adding value and excellence in the advancemen­t of the municipali­ty and the province.

According to its Constituti­on, the PCOB will inter alia aim to be the voice of business, promote constituti­onal measures and actions by any person or body that are the most favourable, considerin­g the fulfilment of the policy and aims of the Chamber, promote the free flow of commerce within its area of operation and across the borders of South Africa, between its members mutually as well as between its members and other business people.

The chamber will also resolve any disputes which may prevent the implementa­tion of its policy or aims, create a forum for the purpose of promoting the interests and rights of its members mutually as well as between its members and other persons and bodies and promote the conduct of business by its members in accordance with accepted ethical and moral standards. Finally, the chamber will oppose constituti­onal measures and actions, or any measures and actions by any other person or body which may prejudice the pursuance by the chamber of its policy and aims.
