Tourism lifts up the industry
To celebrate ce Tourism Month and to encourage enco sector recovery, Polokwane
Tour Tourism Association hosted a networking breakfast bre at Garden Court last Thursday.
Representatives R of various lodges, guest houses, ho hotels, small and big businesses att attended the event to find out more about each ea other’s successes as chairperson of the th association, Gerhard Franken called them th to the front, individually to speak
about ab their businesses.
Each Ea business owner explained what chal challenges they had experienced during the Covid-19 pandemic and how some overcame ov those challenges.
Franken told Polokwane Observer that tourism to continues to be one of the sectors hardest h hit by Covid-19 and the outlook remains highly uncertain. He added that the pandemic has negatively affected the tourism sector locally, nationally and globally. “Its impact left destinations, businesses and communities in a distressed state, a situation which led to calls for new approaches that ensure the resilience, continuity and growth of distressed tourist destinations in a crisis environment,” he added.
Polokwane Tourism Association in partnership with Polokwane Municipality, Limpopo Economic Development, Environment and Tourism, Limpopo
Tourism Agency and Capricorn District Municipality will host a number of activities in celebrating Tourism Month. “These activities are geared towards educating and encouraging the industry players and those interested in entering the industry to have hope in its recovery,” he added.
