Energy FM expands to Capricorn

- Lerato Seerane

Energy FM was welcomed with open arms as the radio station now broadcasts in the Capricorn district from September 21.

In collaboration with Meropa Casino and Entertainment World, Energy FM has moved from their former office in Biccard Street to the station’s new home at Meropa. The station has moved from its previous radio frequency of 102.1MHz to 105.8MHz to expand their broadcast spectrum beyond Polokwane.

The relocation of the station comes as there is a wider reach for the station using the Mokopane tower. The station operated in the Polokwane municipal area since 2014 and now moves into the Capricorn district with its new frequency. The celebration saw Polokwane Mayor John Mpe and Capricorn Mayor Mamedupi Teffo as well as other stakeholders from small businesses, taxi associations and charity organisations attend.

Teffo congratulated the station on its growth and said they appreciate the platform that always gives developmental programmes and news coverage that will not only benefit the city but the entire Capricorn district.

Among the festivities the collaboration between the station and Meropa did not leave out their main mandate of community development, when they gave recognition of academic achievement to learners, Tebogo Maja and Golokile Mashamba, R100 000 in charity donations to five charities and the audience prizes.

Chairman of Energy FM, Stanley Luvhengo said the new frequency and its reach will give listeners access to information aimed at improving their lives as set out in the government programmes.

“We aspire to cover more of the success stories of our listeners and communities, and to address their needs.”

The general manager of Meropa, Sammy Mokhele said their collaboration will surely breed more developments and serve more of its clients with quality broadcasting.
