Reaching out to Ngwana Baby House with donation

- Maretha Swanepoel

Ngwana Baby House, situated in Fauna Park, offers a loving home to abandoned babies between the ages of birth and two years.

The home is registered at the Department of Social Development as a place of safety and therefore some babies do not stay long, while for others, the home is the only one they know.

The management of Savannah Mall along with ward councillor Phaka Murwa recently got involved and visited the home.

“There were two orphans that were very ill and needed professional medical care.

“This took a big bite out of their funds. There are currently 29 babies, all with the biggest, warmest smiles and ready to play and give hugs.”

Savannah Mall donated nappies, baby formula and other much-needed items.

“This was a heart-warming experience.

These babies do not know the world yet, what happened to them, or why they are in a home such as this one. They only know that they are loved, fed and have a warm safe space to be alive in. We would also like to take the opportunity to thank Ngwana Baby House for their commitment to love and care for these babies. It does not go by unnoticed.

“We realised that love and care are not always enough, and these babies have actual needs such as food, milk, blankets, medication, nappies, clothes and the list goes on,” says Janene Wessels from Savannah Mall management.

They encourage companies to dig deep into their pockets and assist.

The mall’s next project is to assist the elderly in the community with a winter drive.

“Please reach out to our centre management by contacting Savannah office at 015 296 1401 if you would like to get involved,” said Wessel.
