Mayoral golf day a big hit
Over R1m was raised for the bursary funfund from pledges made at the PoloPolokwane Mayoral Charity Golf Day tthat was played at the Polokwane Golf Club on May 3.
The top ccontributors were led by Maloka Surfacing,Su who pledged R300 000 and The Ranch Resort who pledgpledged R100 000.
The R1m does not include the money raised as part of the sponsorshisponsorship packages. An auction was also hheld, which raised over R300 000.
Mantlako Sebaka, the manager for sport and rrecreation at Polokwane MunicipaliMunicipality said 125 golfers participateparticipated in the event. “The figures havhave not yet been fully tallied, but our preliminary amount stood at R1.2mR1 while our target was R2m.”
Mayor JoJohn Mpe said the contributiocontributions by the sponsors and the pledges made by companies and individindividuals will go towards the intendedintende purpose of supporting deserving llearners from households, who cannotcanno afford tertiary education.

Nola Peceur was announced the winner in the ladies category with 34 points while Phetolo Mahlo took the bragging rights in the junior section with 39 points.
The men’s C category was won by Weyden Peceur with 35 points while Sarel Nong was announced as the winner men’s B category with 42 points.
