What are the ideal ingredient­s in trail mix?

Obviously, the answer is: Just about anything but raisins. I hate raisins. Aside from that, let’s talk about what the goal is – a little sustenance, some so salt because you’re sweating, and a little sugar or carbs for a quick pick-me-up. Other concerns: Doesn’t melt in the heat. Definitely must be edible by hand. Nuts are always a pretty solid base for their ability to make me feel like I actually ate something, but I’ve also tried dried edamame (soy beans) successful­ly. After our base, I like to add a little lit crunchy goodness that won’t turn to dust if it’s tossed around my bag. I usually go with cereals. (Typically not sweet swe kinds, since I always gorge on the leftover cereal when I get home.) Last but not least, you need some kind of a sweet thing. While I tend to go for the chocolate/candy-shell variety, sometimes I change it up with dried fruits. I like to think of it as a mouth surprise. You can get tired of sweets, and

variety is a good way to keep up an appetite.
