TOP BEAUTY TECH

-

Here’s a round-up of some of the

most tech-savvy beauty buys.

WHITE, BRIGHT AND SMART:

Philips Sonicare DiamondClean

Electric Toothbrush

This is no ordinary electric toothbrush. The Sonicare DiamondClean from Philips is a brilliant buy for smarter plaque removal, overall gum health and the promise of 31 000 brush strokes per minute. It comes with five cleaning modes: Clean, white, sensitive, gum care, and polish. Each has its unique settings and timer to ensure you get your brushing right. Like your favourite pair of pods, the toothbrush comes with its own rechargeable travel case. It also has a charger glass – simply pop the toothbrush into this glass and it will charge wirelessly using induction technology (similar to a charging mat for your smartphone). A full battery

should last two weeks.

FASTER THAN A FERRARI:

Dyson Supersonic Hairdryer

It took 50 million euros, 103 engineers and four years of development to create Dyson’s Supersonic hairdryer. Light, sleek

and consistent (the temperature never fluctuates), this is a small but really smart piece of hair tech. Inside, Dyson’s smallest V9 digital motor spins at up to 110 000 times a minute, at one inaudible frequency – that’s five times faster than a Formula One engine and six times faster than a conventional hairdryer. Like Dyson cooling fans, the hairdryer also has a big hole in the middle, which means there are no vents for hair to get stuck in. Instead, it works with a clever series of magnetic attachments,

all engineered for easy use.

Just by looking at the mirror, it will be able to assess your wrinkles, fine lines

and pores.

THE SWEDISH SONAR:

FOREO LUNA 2

A facial cleansing device developed in Sweden, FOREO uses T-Sonic technology.

The ‘T’ stands for transdermal, and the device is designed in such a way that it both deeply and gently cleans skin using around 8 000 T-Sonic pulsations channelled through

silicone touchpoints. So unlike regular cleansers (or manual brushes, or washing your face with your hands), this high-tech solution unclogs pores, gets rid of make-up (98.5 per cent, claimed), dirt (99.5 per cent, claimed) and any accumulated dead skin

cells. All it takes is two minutes a day.

MIRROR MIRROR ON THE WALL:

HiMirror

This Taiwanese magic mirror comes with a built-in skin analyser. Just by looking at the mirror, it will be able to assess your wrinkles, fine lines, clarity, dark circles, dark spots, red spots and pores. Not only can it track your skin over time, but it can also see if that facial you just had actually worked, and help you target specific problem areas. Like a weightloss app, which lets you scan what you’re

eating to assess calories, the Premium HiMirror will scan your beauty products to help you manage your routine (and also remind you to chuck out expired items).

It looks like a futuristic

space helmet (with a built-in eye shield).
