THE WORLD OF wireless headphones is rather crowded, and it can be difficult to distinguish one brand’s offering from another. That’s not really the case with the WF-1000XM3 headphones from Sony – they are, in a word, outstanding.

Let’s start with the stuff earphone wearers everywhere care about. As in-ear models go, they’re really comfortable. The outer is smooth plastic, featuring touch-sensitive control pads on both units that integrate effortlessly with all the features. They boast a new ‘Tri-hold’ structure, which helps to support the earphones in your ear in three key places. Seeing as no two ear canals are the same, the actual earbuds come with seven different size options – four hybrid silicone buds, and three triple-comfort buds.

The Sony QN1e HD noisecancelling processor is the little piece of magic that helps to deliver excellent results – 40 per cent better noise-cancelling quality than the previous model. Music sound delivery is rich and full, from base notes right through to high trebly tones.

Battery life is a game changer. One full charge will keep you going for six hours, and then the case will provide enough power for another three full charges, bringing the total unplugged time up to 24 hours (even when using the Bluetooth and noisecancelling features together). And, incredibly, 10 minutes of charge time will give you 90 minutes of listening time. If you’re looking to transform your mobile-listening experience, these earbuds from Sony are the way to go.
