» Three pieces of stable timber for the arms and stretcher: 540 mm (long) × 54 mm (wide) × 10 mm (thick). » The thickness of your stock can be as much as 14 mm, but anything thicker than this becomes too heavy and unwieldy.
» I suggest using straight-grained-, knot-free-, light-coloured timber, as it’ll be more stable in use and easier to see when marking lines during your build. If you decide to use a combination of contrasting light- and dark timber, then I recommend that the darker timber be used for the stretcher and the lighter timber for the arms.
