How a Ship is Launched

Several dramatic black and white photograph­s showed ships being launched, and the accompanyi­ng story told of how much preparatio­n and planning goes into setting a new vessel free. It explained that, though most ships are launched stern-first, if the channels are too narrow, new ships are constructe­d parallel to the dock, and launched sideways into the water.
