WINDING STICKS

-

Deceptively logical and having been used for hundreds of years, a matched pair of winding sticks serves to check the twist or ‘wind’ of a board. This pair of tools amplifies the error that you’d not easily detect if you just viewed the board itself. Any two matching pieces of wood that are square and parallel and about 450 mm or longer will suffice. The longer the winding sticks, the more visual accuracy you’ll achieve. Over the years, we’ve found 600 mm is a good length for most work.
